The IPSUM 45’ Trimaran
Verdier/Goepfert/Boucher
Anasazi Ltda is proud to introduce an exciting new build project in partnership with Apparent Wind Activities (AWA). The Ipsum 45' is a high-performance skimming trimaran designed by Loïc Goepfert and Julien Boucher at AWA — a boat that bridges the celebrated multihull heritage of designers like Dick Newick and Mike Birch with the cutting-edge racing technology behind the latest ULTIM-class Gitana 18.
What makes the Ipsum 45' truly unique is its build philosophy. Rather than a conventional production boat, it begins with a Nucleus — a set of high-tech structural components engineered by top-tier offshore racing specialists that ships worldwide in a standard 40' container. From there, the owner has complete freedom to oversee assembly and finishing with the shipyard and in the country of their choice.
All underwater shapes are designed by Guillaume Verdier and built with the same CFD-validated precision used on ULTIM-class racing trimarans.
A key innovation drawn directly from Loïc Goepfert's work on Gitana 18 is a structural roof system that eliminates interior bulkheads entirely. In most production boats, the interior layout is dictated — and constrained — by the structural bulkheads the builder requires. Here, that constraint simply doesn't exist. The entire central hull becomes a truly open canvas, giving the owner the freedom to design an interior that reflects exactly how they want to live aboard — not how a production plan demands.
That freedom extends beyond the initial build. The Ipsum 45' is designed to be fully modular — every component bolts on and bolts off. This means the boat can evolve as its owner's needs change, and adapt just as readily for future stewards of the vessel. No permanent compromises, no costly re-engineering — just a platform that grows and changes with the people who sail her.
The Nucleus opens the door to extensive customization: interior layout, appendages, interbeam and crossbeam design, modular pod inserts, steering systems, rig configuration, wind and engine propulsion — and much more.
The Ipsum 45' also reimagines what the interbeam space can be. Where most trimarans offer little more than a trampoline net between the hulls, the Ipsum can be built with an enclosed Newing — a dedicated room or "wing" suspended above the water. The possibilities are entirely yours: a private on-the-water suite with its own entrance and head; an adventure hub stocked with your wing, surf, kite, or dive gear; a meditation space; an art studio; or even a cabin for your four-legged crew member. What makes the Newing especially clever is its ability to pop up in port for full use, then fold back down into a clean, aerodynamic profile while underway — form and function in perfect balance.
